I got a big project last week. One of the key milestones was to translate an existing email flow into multiple languages and ensure that everything—URLs, alt text, images, footers, flow filters, etc.—was tailored to each target country.
I initially estimated it would take me 2 to 2.5 hours, but I ended up spending over 4 hours to get everything done. Here’s what happened:
First, I duplicated the Dutch-language flow and adjusted the flow filters so that only people in German-speaking countries would receive the new version.
Instead of using ChatGPT for translations, I went with DeepL Translate, which is known for more accurate translations between European languages.
I started with the subject lines and preview text, making sure to handle dynamic fields like “first name” properly. Then I moved through each email from top to bottom—translating all the copy, alt text in images, CTA buttons, text blocks, and footer links. I updated all the URLs to point to the correct country-specific versions—from the homepage link in the logo and footer to links in buttons and images.
What really took time was reformatting the layout: adjusting paddings and margins in text blocks, tweaking fonts, font sizes, and colours. I also translated any text that appeared in images via Figma, downloaded the updated assets, resized them, uploaded them to Klaviyo, and replaced the old ones.
Since this was a browse abandonment flow, I had to update the currency symbols in the dynamic product blocks as well. One of the emails displayed product prices, so I made sure the correct currency showed there too.
Finally, I previewed all the emails in Klaviyo, sent test versions to my inbox, and reviewed everything on both mobile and desktop.

In total: four emails across three different countries. A lot more than I expected—but worth it for the result.
